Volleyball traveled back to South Carolina on Tuesday for a match against the Fire Ants of USC-Sumter and then headed up to Virginia on Thursday night to face the Patriots of Patrick & Henry.
The Trojans took the first three sets in both matches to improve to 5-3 overall.
FTCC vs. USC-Sumter: 3-0, Win
The Trojans didn’t let the Fire Ants pass 19 points in any set, securing the win with 40 kills in the match.
Kyrie Willis (Cypress, TX) led the offense with 13 kills, she also had eight digs and two blocks. Samantha Harless (St. George, UT) had nine kills and four blocks. Ella Ferrie (Stanchfield, MN) was next with eight kills, three service aces and eight digs.
Addie Hudson (Wade, NC) had 12 digs and five assists. Taylor Detrant (Keizer, OR) added 27 assists and nine digs. Madison Carter (Benson, NC) had three of the nine Trojan service aces.
The Trojans had a total of 16 blocks in the match, four coming from Kayloni Eddings (Pembroke, NC).
FTCC vs. Patrick & Henry: 3-0, Win
The Trojans outscored Patrick & Henry by 36 points, only allowing them to reach 12 and 10 points in the second and third set.
Harless led the offense with 10 kills, Ferrie added nine. Detrant had 18 assists with two service aces.
Three Trojans each served three aces in the match: Bre Harrison (Greenwood, SC), Ferrie and Willis.
Detrant and Harrison had three blocks each. The Trojans had 45 digs, nine coming from Hudson.
The Trojans are back at home on Tuesday when they host Lenoir for a 6PM match. Then, Volleyball will host a tri-match on Saturday with Richard Bland and USC-Lancaster. All home games are played in the Horace Sisk gym on FTCC main campus. Admission will be $10 or free with FTCC ID.
