Softball hosted Howard Community College in a doubleheader on Saturday out at JP Riddle Complex. The Trojans took game one 10-8 and the Dragons responded in game two scoring 18 runs in 5-innings. 

The Trojans are now 2-4 overall and will play Methodist JV on Wednesday before heading to Myrtle Beach for the Fastpitch Dreams Classic this upcoming weekend. 

FTCC vs. Howard: 

Game one: 10-8, Win

After the Dragons scored two in the top of the first, the Trojans responded with scoring five in the bottom of the inning. 

Trinity Gaither (Bunnlevel, NC) led the inning off with a walk. With a one out error by the Dragons followed by a double from Mia Vasquez (St. Pauls, NC) and three Trojan singles, they plate five. 

In the bottom of the fifth, Jasmine Wagner (Fayetteville, NC) hit a solo homerun to start off the inning. Maddie Burns (Sanford, NC) and Albani Hooker (Sanford, NC) then hit back to back singles to score the Trojan’s seventh run. 

The Dragons came out and scored four runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead, but the Trojans respond by scoring three in the bottom of the inning before getting three outs in the top of the seventh to secure the win. 

The Trojans had 12 hits to score their 10 runs. Isabella Finelli (Pembroke, NC) started on the mound throwing four innings before Hooker finished the final three.

Game two: 4-18, Loss (5-innings)

The Dragons started off hot in the second game plating four runs in the first and five in the second. 

The Trojans scored their first two runs in the bottom of the third. Raven Ross-Gillespie (West End, NC) singled to lead off and Gaither walked. With one out, Finelli smashed a double to left center to score both runners. 

Howard scored eight more runs in the fourth to put them at 18. The Trojans fought in the fifth scoring two more runs, but not enough to continue the game past five innings. 

The Trojans used three pitchers in game two- Vasquez, Hooker and Finelli.
