Baseball hosted Lenoir Community College in a conference series this past weekend out at JP Riddle Stadium. The Lancers took game one and two, with the Trojans winning game three. 

Baseball is now 11-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play. 

FTCC vs. Lenoir:

Game one- 7-14, Loss

Game one was a nail biter until the Lancers broke it open in the sixth and added to their lead in the eighth. 

The Trojans led 1-0 up until the top of the third when Lenoir plated two runs to take the lead. The Trojans responded in the bottom of the inning to tie the game up at two. 

The Lancers took the lead in the fifth and added to it in the sixth and eighth. 

The Trojans had their biggest inning in the bottom of the eighth when they plated three runners. Zamar Lewis (Dublin, NC) reached base on an error to lead off the inning. Toufic Khabie (Aventura, FL), Cole Feldman (Midlothian, VA) and Josiah Harrison (Chesterfield, VA) hit back to back singles to score two. Koa Kloehs (Suwanee, GA) had an RBI ground ball to plate the third run. 

Two more Trojan runs were scored in the ninth, but the Lancers ended the game ahead by double. 

 

Game two- 5-6, Loss (8-innings)

The second game was supposed to be a 7-inning ball game, but was pushed to eight when the game was stuck at five runs each.

The Trojans plated their first run in the fourth from an RBI single by JJ Faulkner (East Arcadia, NC). The game was tied up in the bottom of the fifth when Clayton Bloomstran (Atlanta, GA) scored on a passed ball. 

The Trojans took the lead on an RBI single from Myles Odom (Pleasant Garden, NC) in the sixth that pulled them ahead by one. 

Lenoir responded in the top of the seventh scoring three runs to take the lead back 5-3. 

The last chance for the Trojans in the bottom of the seventh and they tied the game up with a two-run homerun from Evan Walker (Jacksonville, FL). 

The Lancers scored one run in the eighth to take the lead and the Trojans were unable to get a run across in the bottom. 

 

Game three- 17-7, Win (5-innings)

The energy was on the Trojan side in game three as they scored eight runs to take the lead in the bottom of the first and seven more in the second. They were able to score the final two runs in the bottom of the fourth to enforce a run-rule before holding them to no runs in the top of the fifth. 

Odom and Bloomstran went a solid 2-2 in game three. Lewis had five RBIs and hit his fourth homerun on the season. 

Jackson Rosser (Broadway, NC), Garrett Arnold (Fuquay-Varina, NC) and Dylan Fegley (Lebanon, PA) all appeared on the mound for the Trojans. 

 

Baseball will head to Patrick & Henry this Wednesday for a 3pm start time before heading back to Virginia this weekend for their next conference series at Bryant & Stratton College.
