Wireless Network (WIFI)

To access WIFI at FTCC, currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff can use these general instructions for logging on:

1. Open an internet browser and when prompted, type your FTCC User ID and password to log in.
   1. Your login username/password are the same as those used for Canvas & Self-Service.
2. Read the “Acceptable Use Guidelines” and select “Agree” to proceed. You are responsible for the contents and your access can be terminated if the guidelines are not followed.

WIFI sessions are limited to 8 hours. After time has expired, you will be logged off without warning.

Monday – Saturday: 7:00AM to 10:30PM
Sunday: No Access

Are You a Returning User?

• If you have previously logged into Canvas or Self-Service and already changed your password then enter your login and the password you already changed.
• If you have forgotten your password or your password just is not working, you can reset your password at any time!
  • You will need either your FTCC Student ID Number or Username, plus answer few specific questions.

Open Computer Lab

The college has a number of Open Computer Labs for students to complete assigned course work. Computer programs needed for assignment completion may differ by lab location. Hours vary depending on the semester.

How do I use Gmail?

Google has provided a demo of the Gmail system with clear instructions and explanations of all the included features.

How do I access student email?

FTCC’s student email system is a college created Gmail account that is available from any place that you have access to the Internet and a web browser. The Gmail app is also available for mobile devices in the Google Play and Apple App Store.

What's my password?

The format of the default password for student email accounts is 8 characters which is a Gmail standard. If you’ve submitted a password reset form, your password will be set to your 8 character date of birth. Example: March 15 1980 would be keyed as 03151980.

How can my password be reset?

If you are new to FTCC and are unable to make it to the campus, you can use the online password reset tool to get started with the single login system.

The password reset link is also found in the footer of each page on the FTCC website.

What is contact sharing?

Contact sharing creates a shared address book that includes all accounts for the FTCC Student Email server. To uses the shared address book follow these steps:

1. In your mail account, click on Compose Mail.
2. Click on Choose from contacts below the To: field to bring up your shared address book.
3. In the pop-up window, you’ll see a list labeled Most Contacted, which contains your most frequently used contacts. To see a list of all your personal contacts, click on All Contacted. To send to people on these lists, simply click on all the contacts you want to send to to add them to the To: field below. Note: These lists are both propagated from your personal contacts. If your account is new, these lists may be empty.
4. To send to a user at your domain who isn’t included in your personal contacts list, simply type the first few letters of their first name, last name, or username into the search box. You can also search for a nickname or email list. When your desired contact appears, click on the name to add that contact to the To: field.
5. When you’ve added all the contacts you wish to send to, click Done to compose and send your message to the selected contacts.
6. Once you’ve sent to a contact from your shared address book, they’ll be added to your contacts list. The next time you want to send them a message, their email address will auto-complete as you begin to type it.

What features are available?

Web based access to email allows for easy access from any computer with internet access and a web browser. Integrated email features such as spell check, folder functionality and rule management, configurable email filters, incoming and outgoing virus scan, anti-spam mechanism, and faculty and staff address books. There are limited banners or advertisements. A full 6 Gigabits of storage allows you to store more messages and documents.

Additional functionality available from Google’s line of services will be integrated in a phased approached. Some features may not be integrated into FTCC’s environment.
