Finish Line Grant

The purpose of the Finish Line Grant program is to help students complete their academic training when facing unforeseen financial hardships in the past 30-45 days. When students face financial emergencies through no fault of their own, funds for the Finish Line Grant can be used for:

• Curriculum/Continuing Education
  • Child/Dependent Care
  • Housing (no mortgages/assets)
  • Medical-Self/Dependent
  • Transportation- (no car payments/assets)
  • Utilities/Firewood/Internet
  • Course/materials- (pre-approval from our NCCSS FLG office)

Updated requirements as of August 2025: Students enrolled in a postsecondary degree or certification program at FTCC and who maintained a 2.0 grade point average might be eligible for a Finish Line Grant. Qualifying student may apply up to $1000.00 per semester. Requested amount can not exceed $2000.00 in an academic year.

Because the intended use of the Finish Line Grant application is financial assistance for an unforeseen emergency situation, please be prepared to submit all requested documentation within 48 hours of the date of your application. If the requested documentation is not received within 48 hours, you will be asked to submit a new application.  Examples of supporting documentation that may be requested include a copy of:

• repair quote,
• unpaid utility bill,
• unpaid medical bill,
• written quote from the FTCC (or other) bookstore or

Expenses Allowed when applying for the Finish Line Grant

• Dependent care
• Emergency auto repairs (not normal maintenance)
• Transportation
• Rent
• Referrals to healthcare (eyeglasses, physical and dental care and other medical-related payments)
• Utility bill
• Tuition/fee/supplies (limited)

Expenses Not Allowed when applying for Finish Line Grant

• Title and deeded items (rent or housing deposit, mortgage payments, property taxes)
• Fines and late fees attached to any payments listed above under “Expenses Allowed”
• Food
• Purchase of vehicles
• Business startup cost
• Purchase of TVs, video games or household items not required for educational needs
• Emergency expense already covered by another source

Supporting documentation may be submitted in person to the Financial Aid Department, (Tony Rand Student Center Room 3) or email to finaid@faytechcc.edu . When submitting documentation via email, use subject line: Finish Line Grant Documentation (Student ID number).
