Additional Safety Information & Ways to Receive Emergency Information about FTCC:

Text & email alerts: FTCC emergency information (College opening delays, closings, and other safety-related info) is available via text alert. Information about text alerts is available on FTCC’s home page (bottom of page) underneath “Resources” and labeled “Text Alerts.” Having a cell phone charger inside your personal automobile for charging up your cell phone is a good plan in case electrical outages occur at home; this will allow you to continue using your mobile device to receive important text alerts and access other communications.

FTCC Email: FTCC’s email communication system provides emergency information along with updates. Users can access FTCC email remotely. The URL to log in to Outlook Online is https://my.faytechcc.edu/owa.

FTCC Website: FTCC staff members post emergency information prominently on the home page of our website (www.faytechcc.edu).

Social Media: FTCC staff members post emergency information using various forms of social media including Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Voice Mail Greetings: As a courtesy to callers of FTCC, staff should consider updating voice mail greetings to inform callers concerning the status of FTCC operations during inclement weather conditions. Please refer to the attachment recently provided by Ketura Reaves Ogbusuo (Technology Training & Quality Assurance Coordinator) for information about customizing your voice mail greeting.

General safety information: primary concerns at home or in a vehicle during a winter storm are loss of heat, power, and supplies. Some basic, essential items needed during snowy/icy weather conditions include water, snacks, flashlights, blankets, batteries, cell phone, and first aid kits. For your vehicle, the National Weather Service recommends a cell phone charger, first aid kit, jumper cables, water and snacks, flashlight, blankets, tow rope, snow/ice scraper, and full tank of gas.

Remember, weather conditions can change rapidly. Stay alert, exercise caution, and stay off the roads when possible.

Thank you.
