Kenneth Simmons Jr. has made the transition from military to college, pursuing his educational goals on a path that started at FTCC and has led him to Princeton University.
Simmons’ journey was propelled by a program called Research Experience for Veteran Undergraduates, a 9-week summer program hosted by Yale University that allows enlisted veteran undergraduate students to perform research in a STEM field of their interest and develop skills necessary to become a research scientist.
He is a Warrior-Scholar Project alumnus who attended the program’s STEM boot camp at MIT.
Simmons’ experience has been documented in a spotlight feature from Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Read the feature at this link: https://www.hhmi.org/news/mission-keep-veterans-stem#kenneth
