Kirk deViere

Cumberland County Board of Commissioners Chairman Kirk deViere will deliver the keynote address at Fayetteville Technical Community College’s 63rd Annual Commencement Exercises this Friday.

FTCC will celebrate the graduating class of 2025 in two ceremonies at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Crown Coliseum. DeViere will deliver the keynote address at both ceremonies.

While deViere is relatively new to his role as chair with the county, being elected to the board in 2024, he has a long history of involvement in local and state public service.

Prior to his current role, deViere served two terms as a North Carolina State Senator and one term as a Fayetteville City Councilman. He currently serves as a Commissioner on the North Carolina Military Affairs Commission, appointed by the President Pro-Tem of the NC Senate.

A Florida native, deViere settled in Fayetteville in 2000 after attending college and serving 10 years in the U.S. Army.

DeViere’s extensive community service spans over 20 years, including board leadership roles with Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce, and many others.

Professionally, he owns and operates 219 Group, an advertising agency with offices in Fayetteville and Raleigh. He also owns The Decisive Point, a strategic communications firm, and is a partner in WhyAxis, a strategic consulting firm.

DeViere is married to Jenny Beaver deViere, and they have one son, Greyson. They attend Snyder Memorial Baptist Church.

The public is welcome to attend Friday’s graduation ceremonies. The events will also be streamed live.
