Softball finished their season this past weekend as they hosted Pitt Community College in two doubleheaders that took place on Friday and Sunday. The Trojans finished 8-38 overall and 1-23 in conference play. The team set a new school record hitting 10 triples in a season and stealing 72 bases.
Trinity Gaither (Bunnlevel, NC) set three new school single season records this year, while appearing in the top five in two other categories. She had 23 stolen bases, 34 walks and five triples. As a captain, she led the Trojans this season also with 51 hits, 38 runs and 114 putouts.
Sophomore, Maddie Burns (Sanford, NC), and freshman, Jasmine Wagner (Fayetteville, NC), led the Trojans each with 27 RBIs this season. Burns also led with 14 doubles and six homeruns.
Nyla Mitchell (Lumberton, NC) was a utility on defense for the Trojans, ending the year leading the team with 51 assists. She also pitched 37 innings on the mound.
Isabella Finelli (Pembroke, NC) was not far behind with 46 assists and 43 hits this season. She also appeared on the mound for the Trojans in 44 innings.
The go to for the Trojans this year from the mound was Albani Hooker (Sanford, NC). The freshman pitched 159 innings, leading the team in strikeouts with 78. She also played a big part in the offense, with 41 hits and 17 stolen bases.
The Trojans will have some big shoes to fill next season as they lose five sophomores who have been a part of the program for the last two years.
