Softball traveled to Virginia Beach, VA this past weekend to play a conference series against the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton College. The Trojans dropped all three games on the road. 

They are now 9-33 overall and 0-18 in conference play as they enter their last week of regular season games. 

FTCC vs. Bryant & Stratton College:

Game One- 1-16, Loss (5-innings)

The Trojans scored first in the top of the first inning. Trinity Gaither (Bunnlevel, NC) hit a leadoff double and then stole third base. Leah Benjamin (McColl, SC) hit a sacrifice fly to plate the only Trojan run of the game. 

Albani Hooker (Sanford, NC) started on the mound for the Trojans throwing 1.1 innings and Nyla Mitchell (Lumberton, NC) pitched the remaining 2.2 innings. 

Raven Ross-Gillespie (West End, NC), Jasmine Wagner (Fayetteville, NC), Mitchell and Gaither each had one hit for the Trojans.

Game Two- 6-23, Loss (5-innings)

In game two, the Trojans scored first again in the top of the first inning, this time with two runs. Gaither and Benjamin hit back to back singles to leadoff the inning. Gaither then scored the first run on a passed ball. Later in the inning, Wagner grounded into a fielder’s choice to score Benjamin from third base. 

The Trojans scored one more run in the third inning. Mitchell was hit by pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly from Mia Vasquez (St. Pauls, NC). 

A rally was started in the fifth inning, but the Trojans were unable to score enough runs to get out of run-rule territory. 

Benjamin led off with a single and Mitchell singled before Maddie Burns (Sanford, NC) hit a three-run homerun. 

The Trojans had eight hits, Burns led the Trojans going 2-2 with three RBIs.

Game Three- 2-16, Loss (5-innings)

The Bobcats scored first and did not let up in game three. The Trojans scored their only two runs in the fourth inning. 

Mitchell and Burns hit back to back homeruns to leadoff the fourth inning. 

Vasquez pitched one inning followed by Hooker who threw two and Mitchell who threw one.

Softball is back at home this week as they host Brunswick at 4pm on Wednesday for an Autism Awareness Game. They will then be back at home on Friday and Saturday for their final two regular season game days as they host Pitt Community College. Sophomore Day will be Saturday, April 26 at 2pm.
