The Selma Experience and Leadership Conference offers Fayetteville Technical Community College students the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Civil Rights foot soldiers and explore sites fundamental to our shared American past. Visiting such hallowed ground as the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, the Legacy and Civil Rights Museums, the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, the Tuskegee Airman National Historic Site, and the Edmund Pettus Bridge, these FTCC student ambassadors reflect deeply on our nation’s history and their own roles in creating a better future not only for themselves but for their communities and country. Students also attend Wallace Community College’s Student Leadership Conference to further prepare them to become engaged, active, and responsible American citizens.

It is the mission of the Selma Experience and Leadership Conference Committee to provide this experience to participating students at no or minimal cost. In order to do that, we rely upon the generosity of private donations, both large and small. We hope you will consider giving and/or participating in this once-in-a-lifetime educational experience.
