Chapter 30 - Montgomery GI BILL

  • Step One: Apply to Fayetteville Technical Community College. Follow instructions at https://www.faytechcc.edu/apply-now/
  • Step Two: Apply for VA Benefits at https://www.va.gov
    • Fill out VA Form 22-1990, (Application for VA Education Benefits)
  • Step Three: Complete Veteran Student Intake Form
    • Attach the required paperwork
      • Certificate of Eligibility (COE) arrived after 30-45 after submission
        • Confirmation page from Va.gov (this temporarily accepted and will only cover only one semester) 
      • DD-214 (member 4) Redact SS#
  • Step Four: Submit the REQUIRED FTCC Online Enrollment Certification Request Form (after registering for classes)

Important Information 

  • For monthly stipend payments to be processed, Chapter 30 students must provide a Verification of Enrollment on the first of each month. To verify enrollment, you will either need to log into WAVE (Web Automated Verification of Enrollment) or call 1-877-823-2378
  • Your monthly stipend payment will be wire transferred from the VA within 5-7 business days after you verify your enrollment using one of the methods mentioned above. Payments are made (in arrears) for the previous month and are only paid for the days that you were enrolled in a class.

Chapter 31 - Veteran Readiness & Employment (VR&E)

  • Step One: Apply to Fayetteville Technical Community College. Follow instructions at https://www.faytechcc.edu/apply-now/ 
  • Step Two: Apply online at ebenefits.va.gov
    • Fill out VA Form 22-1900, “Disabled Veterans Application for Veterans Readiness and Employment
  • Step Three: Complete Veteran Student Intake Form
    • Attach the required paperwork
      • Certificate of Eligibility (COE) arrived after 30-45 after submission
        • Confirmation page from Va.gov (this temporarily accepted and will only cover only one semester)
      • DD-214 (member 4) or NOBE (Notice of Basic Eligibility)
  • Step Four: Submit the REQUIRED FTCC Online Enrollment Certification Request Form  

Important Information

  • Once the School Certifying Official fully processes your certification for the semester, the Business Office will invoice your VR&E counselor for your tuition & fees. Your Authorization will also be sent to the FTCC Bookstore on campus so you can obtain books for the semester. 
  • Any questions/concerns about payment, books, and add/dropping classes, please contact your VR&E counselor. 

Chapter 33 - Post-9/11 GI Bill

  • Step One: Apply to Fayetteville Technical Community College. Follow instructions at https://www.faytechcc.edu/apply-now/ 
  • Step Two: Apply for VA Benefits at https://www.va.gov
    • Fill out VA Form 22-1900E, ((Application for Family Member to Use Transferred Benefits)
  • Step Three: Complete Veteran Student Intake Form
    • Attach the required paperwork
      • Certificate of Eligibility (COE) arrived after 30-45 after submission
        • Confirmation page from Va.gov (this temporarily accepted and will only cover only one semester)
  • Step Four: Submit the REQUIRED FTCC Online Enrollment Certification Request Form (after registering for classes)

Important Information – Veterans/Transfer Dependent/Fry Scholarship 

  • VA pays the Book Stipend at a rate of $41.67/credit hour with a maximum of $1,000 per year. This stipend is wire transferred to the bank account identified on your application for the benefits with the VA. It typically arrives 10 days prior to the beginning of classes but can vary depending on when your certification is submitted to the VA and the VA’s current processing times. 
  • Your monthly Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) will be wire transferred to the bank account listed on your application for the benefits with the VA. It is paid (in arrears) on the first of the month for the previous month and is only paid for the days that you are enrolled in a class. 

Important Information – Dependent

  • You can receive up to 36 months of benefits, including:
    • Tuition and fees. If you qualify for the maximum benefit, we’ll cover the full cost of public, in-state tuition and fees. We cap the rates for private and foreign schools, and update those rates each year. View current rates 
    • Money for housing (if you’re in school more than half time). We’ll base your monthly housing allowance on the cost of living where your school is located. 
    • Money for books and supplies. You can receive up to $1,000 per school year. 

Chapter 35 - Survivors and Dependents Education Assistance (DEA)

  • Step Two: Apply for VA Benefits at https://www.va.gov
    • Fill out VA Form 22-5490, “Disabled Veterans Application for Veterans Readiness and Employment
  • Step Three: Complete Veteran Student Intake Form
    • Attach the required paperwork
      • Certificate of Eligibility (COE) arrived after 30-45 after submission
        • Confirmation page from Va.gov (this temporarily accepted and will only cover only one semester)
  • Step Four: Submit the REQUIRED FTCC Online Enrollment Certification Request Form (after registering for classes)

Important Information

  • Your monthly stipend will be wire transferred on the 1st of the month for the previous month. Payments are only processed for days in the month when the student is enrolled in the class. All payments are made directly to the student, no tuition & fees are paid with this benefit so the student is responsible for any charges on their University account. 
  • VA Education Benefits only pay for classes in which you are enrolled that are required for your degree program. Enrollment changes following your VA certification for the term (e.g. course withdraws or failing a course and not fully attending the course) may result in VA debt.  
  • A Chapter 35 (Dependents Education Assistance) student cannot be certified for a double major or dual objective with a degree and an NCD (certificate or diploma) program. The majority rule applied if in more than one program.
