Caps, Gowns, Tassels & Stoles
Caps & Gowns
- Where do I order my Cap & Gown?
- Caps and Gowns are ordered through our third-party vendor Oak Hall.
- Be sure to include your height and weight.
- Be sure to check the deadlines for college delivery vs. home delivery. Home delivery has an additional shipping fee to be paid for by the student.
- Can I pick up my Cap & Gown in person?
- You can pick up your cap and gown during Grad Fair.
- I am graduating with 2 degrees and paid for both. Am I entitled to 2 caps and gowns?
- No, students are entitled to only 1 cap and gown.
Tassels, Cords & Stoles
Honors/Highest Honors tassels and cords are given to students who are in Associate Degree, or Diploma Programs. Students who are receiving Certificates only do not qualify for honors tassels/highest honors tassels or cords.
- What do the tassel colors mean?
- Gold tassels are for GPAs between 3.5 – 3.99.
- Black tassels are for GPAs between 2.0 – 3.49.
- I am graduating with honors, Do I wear both tassels?
- No, you will wear only your gold tassel.
- I’ve lost my tassel, will you replace it?
- No, you are responsible for all your graduation items.
- Is there a Veteran tassel?
- No, there is not a Veteran tassel, but a Veteran cord is available.
- How many cords/stoles can I wear to the ceremony?
- You are permitted to wear up to 3 FTCC-issued items around your neck, and 1 tassel from your cap.
- Only FTCC-issued regalia (cap/gown, cords, stoles, tassels, etc.) is allowed to be worn for graduation.
- Where can I get my tassels and cords?
- Tassels and cords are included with your pre-ordered cap and gown for campus delivery or home delivery.
- Tassels and cords will be available at the Grad Fair, rehearsal, or graduation.
- Where can I get my stoles?
- Stoles are purchased from your participating clubs. Please contact them directly. For a list of available clubs click here.
Graduates are encouraged to wear dark-colored shoes. If wearing pants, graduates are encouraged to wear dark-colored pants.
***NOTE: For your safety, and the timely process of graduation, we ask that you WEAR COMFORTABLE FLATS OR LOW HEELS. There will be prolonged periods of time standing on concrete floors, a lot of walking at a very quick pace, and approximately 80 escalator steps. SPIKE HEELS MAY GET CAUGHT IN THE TREAD OF THE ESCALATOR STEPS CAUSING YOU TO FALL.
Commencement Ceremony
- Where is Graduation held?
- The Crown Coliseum Complex, 1960 Coliseum Dr., Fayetteville, NC 28306.
- Rehearsal will be held in the same location.
- What can I bring into the Crown Coliseum?
- Metal detectors will be at every entrance.
- Clear bags only are permitted.
- No food, drinks, flowers, balloons, gift bags, etc. will be allowed in the Coliseum. Please leave all gift items in your car.
- Where do graduates enter the building?
- ONLY GRADUATES will enter through the Expo Doors (located off East Mountain Drive).
- Enter through the doors that match the color of your Name Card.
- Where do family/friends enter?
- ALL guests of graduates enter the Crown through the North, West, and the East entrances.
- Can I bring someone to rehearsal?
- No, the Expo center doors are for Students Only. We cannot accommodate children, friends or family members at rehearsal.
- What if I arrive late to graduation?
- You can still participate in the ceremony. However, there will be a possibility that you may not sit within your section area.
- How long does the ceremony last?
- The event lasts about an hour and half.
- We recommend that you and your guest EAT before arriving!
- We understand that children may grow restless but we ask that you remain for the whole ceremony.
- Do we walk across the stage individually?
- Is there a reception after the ceremony?
- What can I bring into the Crown Coliseum?
- No food, drinks, flowers, balloons, gift bags, etc., will be allowed in the Crown Coliseum.
- Please leave all gift items in your car.
- Metal detectors will be at every entrance.
- Only clear bags are permitted – please see below.
Crown Coliseum Clear Bag Policy
While bags are not encouraged, the following outlines the bags that are permitted:
- Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″ – a logo can be displayed on one side of a permissible clear bag.
- One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
- Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ — approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap.
- Medically necessary items (after proper inspection and tagging).
Diploma
- What size are the diplomas?
- The degrees, diplomas, and certificates are 8.5 in. x 11 in.
Distant Learner
- How do I get my cap and gown?
- The Graduation fee covers the cost of the cap and gown; however, this does not include shipping fees to your home address. You must order HOME DELIVERY and pay for the shipping fees at that time.
- Do Not Order for Campus Delivery as we will not forward it to your home.
- Will they mail my tassel and name card?
- No, we will issue them at Rehearsal.
Disability Support Service
- How do I request accommodations?
- FTCC provides accommodations for FTCC Students only. Please visit the Crown Coliseum’s page for more information.
- Where is the disabled parking? Where are the disabled entrances?
- Disability parking is located in the North and East parking lots. Both the North and East entrances have disabled entrances.
***NOTE: More parking spaces are located in the North parking lot.

Name Cards
- What are NAME CARDS?
- The name cards are very important! You will be required to bring them to Rehearsal and Graduation.
- The name card is your ticket in the door and what you will hand the announcer as you walk across the stage.
- Name cards are issued at the FTCC Graduation Fair or can be picked up at Rehearsal.
- I am graduating with multiple degrees and certificates. Will the announcer say all of them?
- No, we announce your highest degree. You will also sit within that department section during the ceremony.
